// Randox would not long after win £500m of government work for the NHS’s Covid test and trace programme. The company had already been favoured with a visit to its labs in Northern Ireland by the then health secretary, Matt Hancock, in 2019. //

// Paterson had attended a meeting between Randox and a health minister in charge of Covid procurement in April 2020. The Department of Health and Social Care continues to resist a Freedom of Information request for documents relating to that meeting. //

That is £500Million of taxpayers money. We already know Hancock dished out large covid contracts to companies friendly to the Conservatives, including his pub landlord who got a £30Million contract despite having no experience of PPE.
Surely this situation deserves greater inspection and we need to know how Randox came to be awarded a £500Million contract from the Government.

I am of the opinion that every single penny spent on Covid should be investigated for links to any members of SAGE, MP's their families or friends. And then published, money spent and what we actually got for it.

There was a Channel 4 documentary a few months ago about the links between Randox, Hancock, Dido Harding and Aintree Racecourse, stagers of the er, Randox Grand National.
At the time, I thought it was putting two and two together but not necessarily coming up with 4 if you see what I mean.
It definitely warrants closer inspection.
Randox is a weird set-up. My brother in law worked there for several years and hated it so much he left despite getting a promotion
It may also have gone into the Patersons' connections with Randox and Aintree - I can't remember

Am sure it will get closer inspection. Hopefully there will be some sort of enquiry about this as there need's to be more transparacy and limits on paid lobbyist MPs , but its going to come out in the open anyway as theres sure to be lots of people in the press, Remainers, the opposition and even in the Torys who'll see an opportunity to embarass Boris or steak there own leadership claim whose going to be digging as hard as they can to find something

as usual I'm perturbed to find myself agreeing with ymb, but there it is - he's right. Covid has opened up a huge gap between the profiteers and the dead.

Agree ymb, BA goes to you.

The Government’s usual defenders are conspicuous by their absence on this thread.
seems politically that this will get up and run
( £ 347 m smackers given to pals of Boris ) with little to show

//every single penny spent on Covid should be investigated for links to any members of SAGE, MP's [and hangers on]//
is OK so long as it dont cost too much

the bloody sunday inquiry part X cost £160 m (*)
which works out at £10m per dead person and when I suggested that they give £10m to the families there was outrage and shick at such a stoopid idea. - pouring moolah into the pockets of the lawyers was the name of the game

( Some like Peter Oborne have labelled the inquiry a "shambles", estimating its final cost at "more than £200 million".)
no the govt supporters are busy stabbing the delete button for posts they dont like
( off point, harassing, insulting abusive - the usual gamut)
try each one successively
I certainly agree with the BA (for once :-) )

" the bloody sunday inquiry part X cost £160 m (*) "

An old git remembers:
Lord Widgery buzzing me in his helicopter each morning on my walk to school from the bus stop, on his way to the county hall with a pen and a pail of whitewash ...

Paterson, Randox and chums ripped off the country for for half a billion pounds and they are laughing alk the way to the bank.

No investigation, No police. A contract awarded without any advertising or competitive tendering, nodded through because they were Tory donors.

Hancock’s local pub landlord got a £30million contract despite not knowing what PPE was.

The whole thing is corrupt, not transparent and ripping of the taxpayer by £billions.

But the Clown in charge is loveable so they get away with it all.
Hancock’s local pub landlord got a £30million contract despite not knowing what PPE was.

Why would he need to know what PPE was?

That doesn't answer my question
