A group of rugby players who have been supporting a hospice been told that their attire is now unacceptable. Why? Because it might offend LGBT people. The chaps have chosen to support a different charity next year.

And the RNLI have axed an annual Yard of Ale contest for fear it may encourage binge drinking.

There's bound to be someone at the hospice who would be offended by the word "stiff".

Deskdiary // Despite the mealy-mouthed justification for the apparent potential to cause offence //

Shall I translate that? "Despite the fact some people can actually see the other side of the argument, despite feeling those who complained were no more than virtue signalling"

I didn’t feel it needed translating, but if it makes you better to do so, then fill your boots.
A culture clash.
In the right corner, Mrs Patel at the Hospice.
In the left corner, Mr It’s PC gone mad.

\\ Vulcan,
They say they receive complaints in a previous year. Not might, or potentially - they got complaints.//
Gromit, thank you for pointing that out, I see it is mentioned in the blue highlight which I hadn't read initially. I still think it odd though, having mentioned previous complaints, they still said potentially and might be, offensive.
22.01 Fill my boots with what exactly?
Grey is the most popular colour at the moment for homes and lives, don't people ever get bored with mundanity?
