We have spent ages researching where to spend NYE. Six of us always go away for a couple of nights and have a great party night. We found it very difficult this year but eventually found somewhere in Salisbury.
Had emails today cancelling our bookings. The owners have decided to close down over the entire Christmas and new year period. We had also booked into the Marco Pierre White restaurant for NYE. Brilliant seven course menu.
So we will have to start searching all over again.
Does anyone have any ideas where something festive is happening within about 100 miles of Gloucester?

could you go early and join the pagans celebrating the winter solstice at Stonehenge?

We had planned on a visit there.
The New House Country Hotel, on the edge of Cardiff, has an overnight package including a New Year's Eve gala dinner for £185p.p. As well as the dinner and accommodation, you get afternoon tea on arrival and a champagne brunch in the morning. (I assume that you could add an extra night's stay, before or after New Year's Eve, if you wanted to).

A decent write-up for the hotel from The Telegraph here:

Thanks Chris, that looks very interesting. Will investigate.
Try Bells Club or Forest Hills Golf club.
Question Author
Thanks grumpy. Bells is one of our locals and we are having our U3A Christmas party there. We also go to Forest Hills regularly too.
Haven’t been to either for a while but hope to have our retired staff Christmas lunch at F H.

Do you live locally then grumpy?
