Iron can cause diarrhoea. You need to see how much of each vitamin and mineral is in the tablets you are taking and be careful not too exceed the daily dose. Why do you need the extra iron and vitamin c. One multi vitamin a day with a balanced diet should be enough. Who advised you to take all this and why.

Nobody advised me I just wanted to improve my health because I have low folic acid and iron .
If you have not been advised by a doctor to take them then don't. Just eat properly,
As far as I know too much iron causes constipation. Are you sure it's the supplements that are causing the diarrhoea? Have you been eating a lot more fruit than usual?

I agree that if you eat a balanced diet and are otherwise well you shouldn't be taking supplements unless advised to by a doctor.
If your lifestyle has maintained normal blood vitamin levels then you don't need supplements.
The only exception that I might make with any degree of scientific support is Vitamin D3.
You spend your money on what gives you satisfaction even if it involves seeing your money slide into the toilet.
There are certain medical conditions which involve dietary deficiencies but these need to be established at the outset by blood analysis.
In direct answer to your question, until the cause of your change of bowel habit is established which in my view is your overzealous relationship with supplements and vitamins.
I know that high dose...several grams...of vitamin C can cause diarrhoea. But I doubt redoxon contains that much.
I had a blood test that showed I had very low folic acid-the doctor gave me a prescription for three months worth and then said to have another blood test. Can't your doctor prescribe the medication you need??
Question Author
My doctor prescribed the medicine in December last year but doesn't care about my blood test again.
why did you only start it 2 months ago if it was px in december?
Question Author
I started the liquid folic acid and iron in December but only started taking the multivitamins a fortnight ago.
well, if they were upsetting my stomach I'd stop taking them. Stick with the things your GP prescribed if they aren't bothering you.
Question Author
Thank you for all the advice I have now stopped taking the multivitamins.
My apologies for such a late ‘add-on’ to this thread.
Musictv2019, I like you was enthusiastic on supplements- over did that without thinking of consequences ….Among other supps., I took 5 Vit D3 and ended up in hospital with kidney stones- which passed after a week! (Thankfully) Now I am very mindful of what I’m taking and check whether it interacts/side effects/absorption etc and timing. All only because I’m a senior male and can’t eat the volumes I used to, so I can’t get all I need from food. One other reason for taking certain supps is to try and get my blood pressure to the point where my GP thinks it’s normal- and kiss goodbye to that prescription. That’s my goal.
