If I was struggling on a salary of £82k, I would be wondering how anyone could survive on a salary of less than ¼ of that (as many people do).
I agree with TTT, reduce the number in the HoC (plus as Khandro says the HoL) and pay them more (not the HoL). Tied to that though should be that they cannot have other worked income.

When I was working I earnt nearly twice that. It certainly does whittle down with taxes and things. And yes I was paid expenses when working abroad before anyone starts.
i agree they should probably be paid more. there is zero job security and every 5 years or so, all the people that live near you get to vote on whether you keep your job or not!
plus it's not like you can just apply for a similar role in another organisation if your boss is hacking you off
