Defecting from Labour to the Conservatives seems like a huge leap. We had quite a few MPs leave both Labour and the Conservatives a couple of years ago, but they became Independents. I would not be surprised if some Labour MPs become Independents, but I would be very surprised if they turned Tory.
We’ll see how this pans out in the next week.
The seven Labour MPs and 4 Tories who defected to ‘ChangeUK, all subsequently lost their seats at the 2019 General Election.
I’m not surprised they want to defect.I would not want to be associated with a party whose deputy leader called political opponents scum.SKS does not have the populist appeal of Tony Blair or the political nous of Neil Kinnock to rid the party of the “loony left”.Until him or any other Labour leader can regain the middle o ground of British politics they are destined to be the main opposition party.
Before he became leader Starmer supported the loony left - and there’s none more woke. I wouldn’t trust him an inch.
Maybe they think Starmer isn't planning to spend as much money as Johnson :-)

If these people exist, they plainly aren't left wingers, and no one defected in the entire term of Corbyn's leadership, so I'd be a bit surprised if it happened now. But who knows.
That word again…………. Could .
I am not a Labour party supporter and never have been. However, looking at this question objectively I think Starmer could survive and be successful if he accomplished what most defectors and many members want. That is to get shot of potty mouth Rayner and clear out the Corbyn remnants. Attack anti Semitism properly and strongly.
Stop criticising Boris just because he feels he has to disagree with just about everything. Be sensible and realistic, then he might, just might be a survivor. He will not, or cannot of course and that leaves the position vacant for Andy Burnham to fill. We'll see.
looks like they are disillusioned with the nasty left and Rodder's ineffectiveness. Tories still lead the polls mid term mid crises, oh dear! //"They are understood to be in despair at Sir Keir's failure to make inroads into Boris Johnson's opinion poll lead – as well as Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner branding the Conservatives as 'racist' and 'scum'.// - not a dry eye in the house! PMSL!
'Newspaper to the right of Adolf runs story about the left. Readers froth and fulminate as per'.
Has anybody called an ambulance over to see Gully as the palpitations and shock on reading/hearing this must be unpalpable.
// no one defected in the entire term of Corbyn's leadership //

Labour MPs Luciana Berger, Ann Coffey, Mike Gapes, Chris Leslie, Gavin Shuker, Angela Smith and Chuka Umunna, all resigned from the Labour Party and joined ChangeUK in 2019.
