How Can I Record Audio Only From A Dvd?

I have a music DVD that I would like to record the sound from preferably as wma. My laptop is on Windows 8.1. Does anyone know if I could this and if so, how?

You can do it using VLC. See here:

Those instructions refer to extracting to MP3 format. I can't think of any reason why anyone would ever choose WMA as a preferred audio format but if, oddly, that's what you really want to do, you simply need to modify Step 4 accordingly).
^^^ The foregoing assumes, of course, that your laptop has got a DVD drive (or that you've got an external USB one)!

If you're hoping to use a regular DVD player, then your options will depend upon the outputs available from that drive and the inputs available on your laptop.

Thank you Buenchico. Why WMA? I have a somewhat old Olympus portable recorder which only supports WMA format.
