Gaps on supermarket shelves. Fast food outlets pulling milkshakes and bottled drinks from their menus. Restaurants running out of chicken and closing. Empty vending machines. Online grocery orders full of substitutions. Fruit and vegetables rotting in the fields.

These are just some of the most visible signs of Britain’s deepening supply chain crisis, which has seen stocks in shops and warehouses slump to their lowest levels since the Confederation of British Industry began surveying in 1983.

It has led to dire warnings that the UK’s food system, which has been hit hardest by delivery delays and labour shortages, is in danger of reaching breaking point and may not be able to meet Christmas demand.

TCL: "Work for your money and you become a better person, give people money for doing nothing, and all they will want is more, and become total ***, and thats what we have today. " - bang on that's what I have always done, TGL taught us that.
Was that a Freudian slip?
What was a Freudian slip?
an unintentional error regarded as revealing subconscious feelings
TORATORATORA ignores me and the answer he quoted was from TC but he put TCL so I must have been in his thoughts...
Only shortage I've noticed is of tonic water. Empty shelves in Tesco's and Morrison's for weeks on end. Could be because we are in a holiday area.
Someone on the staff at Tesco's said there were problems with the supply of Co2 and another lady chipped in to say her local pub ran out of it so couldn't serve beer last weekend. Annoying when, at long last, the holidaymakers are back. I seem to remember this happening a few years ago.

Might do their customers a favour. They could try (if the pub has it) proper beer which does not rely on outside CO2 for its delivery.

This is what companies who depend on HGV drivers are going to have to do because £30k is not enough:

There are one or two items missing from the selves for sure, for reasons highlighted in different posts, so no need for me to repeat such. I think really we are so used to seeing our supermarkets crammed to the ceiling, not only within the shopping area but also the stockrooms, that people now go into panic mode,. I've seen less panic in countries that have real problems in getting food, not to mention they already have starvation in many areas. Then we have our great media that can't wait to tell us that Christmas stocks could be a problem, do they mean all that excess food many buy then find they can't eat it all, so it finds its way into the bin?
Quite true. In my young days, when Xmas fell om a weekend, shops would be closed for four days. To ensure we didn't run out of bread, every Xmas Eve I was sent to join the massive queue at the baker's to buy three loaves. Five days later at least two of those loaves would find their way into the bin or thrown out for the birds. Crazy, but my mother never learned.
Maybe its down to many of our unemployed people having no wish to work all the time they can scrounge unearned benefits paid for by the rest of us.
Sounds like you know Airdrie and Coatbridge,CAC.
Not a lot of thought went into the opening line of this post. ( Why is Britain running out of everything) but eh oh I've made the same mistakes :0) May be WHY ARE SOME ITEMS / BRANDS MISSING FROM THE SUPERMARKET AND OTHER OUTLETS.
