. . . . to £100.

Watch the banks try to wriggle out of reimbursing the inevitable rise in fraud claims.

my bank even refunded me something that wasnt defrauded once
there is a lot of hysteria surrounding the banks and fraud. generally if you can demonstrate you have not been negligent then they'll reimburse fraud pretty readily, the horror stories you hear are nearly always where the "victim" is themselves fraudulent or negligent and tries to disguise the fact and then goes whining to the media with half truths. Just get an anti touch wallet if you are worried.
I don't actually see any need for the contactless limit to increase. £45 is enough for most of my transactions but when I go to M&S and Lidl , as I did today, and spend over £45 in each, it's not a big deal to use chip and pin.
Precisely. Is typing four digits into a keypad such a laborious chore these days?
i have enormous difficulty with chip and pin so i welcome it
Not a chore, JD but not pleasant if the last person to use it was picking his nose just before tapping. I've seen some really grubby keypads.

Our limit is 50 euro which is fine. I'd prefer it to stick at that but will still use contactless if it goes up.
Oh good, contactless is soooo good for spending, makes it nice and easy, and I’m all for that.
They are also getting rid of the magnetic strip. It still has one practical use; if the chip in your card becomes damaged you can still make purchases. Only difference is you have to sign the receipt. I was very grateful for this one Xmas Eve when the chip wouldn't work.
No idea why all the fuss ?
People giving examples of losing their card blah blah
I never take my card out any more or very rarely
I just use my phone
If I lose that I have the protection of knowing that
A It is locked and B any would be thief would need my fingerprint to activate the card on it
Lot of fuss over nothing
Never used one. Cash is king. I seldom go out without a ton in the back pocket.
Cash is no good if you've lost your receipt and need to return an item; no chance of a refund of your deposit or full payment if the company goes bust; no credit card company to get your money back if the item is faulty and hard cheese if your cash is lost or stolen. Cash isn't king for me, David
