Got a message on my phone stating that the current version of WhatsApp is out of date and to download new version

However I can't get into Google play store

Can anyone provide me with a link please to download , which doesn't require to go through Google play store ?

I've opened the link and tap download now , but nothing happens .

Do I need to uninstall the current WhatsApp app which is on my phone first ?

You need to go to your downloads folder and manually install the apk

It's up and running .

This might sound silly but I had lots of things to do with whatsapp open and I'm not sure the download that got it working was the one from APK .

Is there some way to check ?
