Hypothetical question.

Nigel has two grown up children still living at home.

The whole family change their petrol and diesel cars for electric ones, and charge them at home.

Do young Tarquin and Esmeralda suddenly find they can afford skiing holidays, because their electricity goes on Daddy's bill?

If Daddy has any sense he shares the bills with his grown up children and makes them pay their way
are you making plans for Nigel?
Did Tarquin and Essie pay for their own electricity before?
My mum told me that I could live at home free of charge if I promised to move out the next year and to "take your bloody dog with you".

Nigel could try doing that.

Perhaps energy companies will have to come up with clever accounts that split bills. It could be a multi occupancy house rather than a family.
Perhaps in an HMO they could be made card operated - pay as you go.
Well thats not really the point ZM. The question perhaps should have been did they pay for their petrol themselves?

Easily solved - buy a pay meter and install it on the charging point.
A friend of mine many years ago was incurring such astronomical phone bills because of his teenage children's usage he fitted a payphone.
Maybe some version of this at the charging point is the future ?

Tarquin and Esmeralda are going to need a lot of pound coins.
Perhaps they'll move out as it's all too much hassle.

Nigel sighs contentedly.

Oh they're staying longer, life has got easier for them (except the fight for the charging point. It's worse than the argument over the bathroom)
