Does anyone know if it's possible to buy a travel insurance policy for the uk only. We have a holiday booked - staycation if you will - which hasn't involved us in an enormous outlay. Enough though to not want to lose it if, for some reason, we have to cancel. Covid being the most likely reason.

All of the policies I have looked at on the various searches offer cover which you'd need when abroad, i.e. several million of medical cover etc, which simply wouldn't be needed travelling in this country. The cost of a policy for us, including the excess adds up to a significant amount, making it hardly worthwhile. I'd settle for a policy that just covers covid, and not any medical conditions we have. The chance we'd have to cancel due to our medical conditions are next door to nil compared with catching covid at the minute, but not declaring them makes the policy invalid.

As so many people are holidaying in this country this year, I'd have though there would be policies available just for UK travel.

I'll have a look at staysure. It does seem quite mad to have to pay for several million pounds worth of medical cover when you're in the UK. My bank doesn't offer travel insurance with a regular bank account, only the ones that you pay a fee, and for us these are not worth it.

The travel insurance we usually have is the one that 'tops up' your EHIC card, or whatever they call it these days, and also has cancellation on it. They used to do a policy where you could opt to exclude your medical conditions which made it cheaper, but it would seem that they don't do it now.
