Royal Navy.

My youngest son left home yesterday to join the Royal Navy.
He has been in training for months.
Thirty three military standard push ups, running like crazy, strong as an Ox, great team player, and, oh yes, a really nice person of whom I am so proud :-)
Just saying :-)

Never knowingly missing a chance to relate a tale, I remember playing a gig at HMS Raleigh many, many years ago.
Our agent had messed up.
We were a rock/blues band. Several stacks of Marshall amps. We cracked off with something fairly heavy. Probably a Howlin' Wolf tune back then.
You should have seen their faces. Our dopey agent had us booked in for a Black Tie & Evening gown gig. They probably were expecting a few fox-trots and a couple of waltzes.
Oh dear...
Being the pros we were (?) we turned down the amps and put towels over the drums to quieten them down. Actually, we got away with it.
After a while, and some "refreshments" they "rocked, but gently", boogeyed on down, and we all had a good time.
As an optimist, I look on that as an omen for your lad's future successful career. ;o)))

Well done ur lad Theland :-)
I had aspirations to be in the Navy as a 16 yr old schoolboy and did a weeks 'work experience' at HMS Raleigh in 1982, along with 3 others from my school (and some from other schools the same week).
Decided that it wasnt for me.
Ended up working in a car parts store....soul destroying!
Well done and good luck to him.
I know that I would be proud if that was my lad.

Well done, Thelandsson! Seriously, be proud of him. A lass near us was accepted on the basis she could pass the physical. It wasn't all that difficult for girls (I could have done it 10 years ago) something like running 1500m in under 10/11 mins.. She lacked the will to do the training, although I gave her a programme, and failed 3 times.
Your son showed the determination - another well done. :)
