Growing in the local park. I've never seen it before. It stands about 3.5-4 feet tall, a bit spindly looking with thin narrow leaves.

At up to 4 feet tall?
I somehow doubt it...dont they grow low to the ground?
Question Author
I'm guessing it's a pretty weed...or a wildflower of some sort.
NOT a triffid - - - disappointed really
"Up to 1.5m", according to the British Wildlife Trust:

Yellow bellflower/campanula I think. It's very pretty
Definitely Evening Primrose IMO
Question Author
Oh...never knew primrose grew that tall.
I'm still not sure...
More searching to do.
Question Author
It's not related to the primrose famous of spring. We get a lot round here wild in the verges.
Question Author
Interesting. As I said, I'd never seen it before and it's on a path I walk on regularly.
Now I'll see it everywhere ;)
as others have said, common evening primrose
I'm pretty sure that it is 'Evening Primrose'.
Have a wander past it on a still warm evening, it smells lovely
