Tv Recorder. Av1 And Av2 Being Displayed.

When switching on, somehow the above are being displayed instead of a channel number. Going to record a TV programme shows only these symbols whereas I should be able to choose any channel I want to record. I've tried everything but am unable to find the right controller button.

That model's been around for 11 years, so it's possible that it's developed a fault which can't easily be repaired.

However, all video recording devices (to the best of my knowledge) have a button, or menu setting, labelled 'Source', or similar, which allows the user to switch between different signal sources for recordings. Looking at the manual for your machine, the relevant button on the handset seems to be the one labelled 'Input Select' (to the right of the '9' key). Try pressing it to see if there's an option to choose something like 'TV', 'DTV' or similar as its recording source.

Thanks. I've got it going OK now but it's given so much trouble this past year that it's soon for the chop.
