I’ve developed a taste for the above after trying a premixed one in a can. At £2 for a small can it could work out expensive.
I’d like to mix my own and was wondering if anyone here either..
Mixes their own, what ratio do you use, and what brand of coconut cream?
And
Anyone know of a premixed one, in a bottle, that’s very nice?
I’ve looked online but would prefer personal recommendations.
Thank you.

This thread interests me. We have friends coming round in a couple of weeks and one of them loves Pina Coladas. Whenever we go out, they’re never available, so I thought I’d make her some.

Thank you Barry but I have seen that recipe and a number of others when I was browsing. It does sound rather good though :)
I hate rum so I'd use vodka.

Rocky, the can I had was called funkin nitro pina colada, it was very, very nice, I’m doubtful I’ll be able to recreate the taste. Your friend might enjoy it.
The bbc one Barry posted the link for sounds pretty good though and it will probably be the one I’ll follow once I’ve bought the pineapple juice and coconut cream.

Ha captain, your good lady had good taste ;)
When you mix your own you can tinker with ingredients and with luck improve on the original and tailor the drink to exactly your own taste at the time of drinking, it's fun.
a tip - what I do is pre-marinade the pineapple in dark rum and then after a while stooping it, I purée and chill it, after that make the mix in the normal way,

blend half of the pineapple, 8 oz. coconut milk and cream (if you have the cream), 8 oz. Bacardi, lime juice (at least half a lime - I usually go for 1 lime), and plenty of ice in a blender until smooth.

If you have the time and not the numbers, put the blending vessel in the fridge for another 20 minutes or so and then a final blast, pour and then add your garnishes - usually a Del Monte cherry and a wedge of lime. Should give you 4 hi-balls.
do any of you pina colada lovers like getting caught in the rain?

:-)
Thank you Mushroom - my first good laugh of the day x
Get yourself a bottle or two of this, https://www.distillersdirect.com/shop/syrups-and-purees/real-coconut-syrup-500ml?gclid=CjwKCAjwi9-HBhACEiwAPzUhHDTFI4_5pVn4IrLQ6d-sRxNi5Ogs3V5jRKdY8UlpQFUFQxUs4SB3oRoCx8cQAvD_BwE
plus a bottle of Bacardi, pineapple juice and plenty of ice, recipe is this; one part cream coconut, one part bacardi, 3 parts pineapple juice and plenty of ice, shake the mixture well and serve, I put mine in a Breville blender and blitz for a few seconds, lovely!

Mushroom, I’d dearly love to get caught in the rain at the moment ;)
Thanks for all the further replies, the necessary has now been added to click and collect next week. Experiments will be in order on Tuesday afternoon..
(although I’ve also hedged my bets and ordered a few cans of the nitro one I really enjoyed).
