I deleted the app yesterday. Got asked to check in today, is that just the venue being a bit behind or are check ins still a legal requirements.

Aldi had a notice asking customers to continue wearing a mask "if you are able". Many weren't.

ymb, I thought landlords were entitled to refuse to serve any customer even before Covid.

Yes they are. But they cannot discriminate on the basis of a "protected characteristic", one of which is disability. So if you have (say) asthma (which is classed as a disability), which makes it difficult or impossible to wear a face covering and you are denied entry for not wearing one, the venue is acting illegally.
