Here...I hope...is his most recent mug shot. :) Please excuse puppy pads...one is under litter tray...and the other is for him to lay on and stop the carpet from being covered in fur. He is still wary of me but will sleep spread across the hallway so I need to step over him.

not been on your lap yet then?
Question Author
No unfortunately. Daughter tried stroking him when she was visiting on the weekend...she got hissed at. He backs away if my hand gets too close. But, he's far more willing to lay out in full view, so I see that as progress.
He's a gorgeous boy.
Lying there with his belly exposed is just brilliant progress. Keep doing what you're doing girl, he couldn't be in a better place. x

He's a real flirt.
Daughter is still willing to take Cleo to help him relax. She still jumps on him out of nowhere. Their flat is a building site though as both kitchen and bath are being replaced. So later in the summer.
IF he misses her will you bring her back?
A comfortable relaxed cat. He wouldn't expose his belly like that if he was not feeling safe. Great progress. One of mine will only tolerate a head or back stroke then walk away. Has never sat on a lap. However does change her sleeping place weekly going round the house clockwise to very specific " beds"
Lovely boy..x
I think he's gorgeous (but please don't tell my threesome that I've said that - they don't like competition!).

;-)
Toby's obviously a, "you can look but not touch" kind of cat.
I once stroked a most beautiful looking cat sitting on a garden wall. Jeez, never again. It drew blood, mine!

When he started exposing his belly, I knew progress was being made.
I think he'd like attention, but he's not sure yet about the means of getting it.
He backs away if I've got shoes on...i wonder if he's been kicked. That horrifies me.
Cleo's visit away will be open-ended...we'll see how it goes. Like me, daughter believes he needs to be on his own to gain confidence.
Oh how gorgeous!
He’s a beaut
/// He backs away if I've got shoes on...i wonder if he's been kicked. ///

Yes, that sounds very likely. One day he will appreciate you saving him from that.

Canary, I got him from a rescue that specialises in un neutered male strays, and some come from horrific conditions. Recently, there were 4 cats, in individual metal cages, dumped on waste ground. And the 20 from a hoarding situation. And then the ones that try to get into people's homes for food/shelter.
He's a nice looking puss, he may just be a cat with attitude, don't forget the other reasons cats lay in their backs is to bring all four sets of claws into play.... You all know the one

Does baby want belly rubs then

Leggo my arm you little.....
Stop kicking. Where's the plasters
Just seen this, Pasta, and what a gorgeous kitty he is :o)))

I miss having cats :o(

Get one! Or 2! You know you want to...when you're settled.
There are so many out there that need someone like you. x
