Hi there
Since last week I was getting black spots in my right eye. I thought it was floaters I just ignored it But I kept on getting them so I went to my optician who I have known for years. He dilated my eyes and told me I had a bleed at the back of the eye close to the retina so he contacted the hospital and I had to go and see a consultant ophthalmologist straight away after all the covid procedures. I saw this really nice consultant who seemed a bit confused re the urgency and said yes I had had a haemorrhage in my eye likely causing the black spots but the hope is it will reabsorb itself I'm in a blood thinner similar to warfarin so may make it worse. I will be sent an appointment in 3 months. I have an annual diabetic screening every time early diabetic eye changes but see me in a year. I'm confused is it not a problem a bleed near the retina? Could this have been caused by high blood sugar

I'd trust your Consultant and simply report back to them if any problems worsen.

Spot on geordie and from what I recollect your blood sugars have never been under control.
Eye problem...........no big deal.........just a warning.

trust your consultant
and dont second guess with a load of walk ins and readers digest readers on AB

hes done all the right bits - history and exam, and weighed up the difficult bits like - if he takes warf then it might linger longer
and if he stops warfarin he may ( do whatever the warf prevents)

which is what you pay them for
