Has the big fat one declared a national day of mourning in England. If this is anything to go by then he should. What has this to do with football?

jno: "fat people are fat by choice. " - why would anyone choose to be fat? ridiculous thing to say.
why indeed, TTT? And yet very few of them seem to weigh 20 stone when they're 16. Every pound they put on after that is all their own work. (I know this from personal experience.)
yes but it's not a choice there are many other factors.
Food addiction. Awful.
Do you mean The round man, Maggi ?.
you can always choose to put something in your mouth or not. Only suffragettes get force fed.
I don't have any problem with Maggie using the phrase big fat one but I would like to understand why those posting so vehemently about the disgraceful racism on the football thread aren't equally up in arms about this abuse. I can only conclude that it's quite OK to be rude about anyone's appearance or character as long as they are not 'of colour'?
It's allowed if one is on one knee at the time, Prudie.
“ I can only conclude that it's quite OK to be rude about anyone's appearance or character as long as they are not 'of colour'?”

I think that would be a spectacularly misguided conclusion
It seems unnecessarily derogatory, but ttt, which factors other than taking in more than you use?
pixie, yes that is the basic equation and it's simple enough but it's far from simple for many to implement. I think it's too simplistic to say people choose to be fat. Ask anyone even remotely over weight if it's their choice. No one is fat by choice.
It's not easy, no. But it is simple.
No they aren't, TTT. Some have bad diets, some comfort eat.

My sister and her daughter are obese....bad food choices in their case. They aren't happy, they pretend to be but they aren't.
When Boris Johnson said, “I’ve been eating less carbs, avoiding chocolate, no more late-night cheese, all that kind of thing."

was that not confirming he had some control over his weight?
Jno, you've forgotten the imprisoned IRA members who were force fed whilst on hunger strike
I think you all have this wrong.
MBee believes that the SNP have control here and it is the SNP Parliamentary hero Ian “Bravebelly” Blackford that is issuing this decree. It is the gift to the Hansard comedy pages, Ian the Unready, that surely MBee believes is now, in addition to carrying the SNP slush fund begging bowl is now adding National decrees. Veni, vidi, Ipse desiderari occasionem
I'm pretty sure this was prior to the match as it was all over Twitter before kick off
sorry, barry, I did indeed forget.
jno - most obese people overeat. (Put on a bit myself over the last year, but it's going.) I did know, however a very rotund, 'Billy Bunter' of a chap whose condition was glandular (he was under the care of a hospital).

Personally, my 11-yr-old grandson appalled me when I saw him after a year, a couple of months ago. He'd gone from rounded/on the plump side - but it would go when he grew - to a definite Billy Bunter. Even the lips were puffy. He was bursting out of his clothes.

Quandary, what can I do? I served a lovely, salady lunch and didn't mention it. I have to leave it to his mum, who said 'airily' that 'lockdown hadn't been kind' to him.

I'm considering giving him a Billy Bunter omnibus for Christmas!
