I just had a smart meter installed but don`t want the IHD on in my kitchen , would it matter if i unplugged it and put it out of sight ?

it sends your useage directly to the utility company so no meter reading needed. You also have a hand held unit that tells you how much fuel you are using at any given time (and how much you havespent that day so far

Well said, Canary. They have been - and still are - riddled with problems, and the only people they benefit are the energy companies.

There's a gadget called a "Watchman" that you can have fitted to your oil tank. It wirelessly tells your oil company when you need re-filling.
Saves all that poking with a stick to see how much is in there.

I can't see that it's a lot different from that really.
The nonsense comes mostly from their advertising, when they tell you it can save you money.
You can only save by switching things off. ;o)))
We’ve had our smart meter for about four or five years, not had a single problem.
We view our usage on an app we have on our iPads and iPhones, we don’t have a ‘device’ as such...well, we do but I don’t even know where it is :)
Why would any company bombard you with calls etc if the item in question was for your benefit?
because they are getting pressure from the government

I was never bombarded by anyone i decided to have a smart meter as my father just had one
