^^^^ Bang right - damn savages should be...
Whilst I think politically not a lot had been gained. There are some pluses, although for some the cost (both human and financial) may far outweigh the benefit. Trauma surgery had advanced enormously, this knowledge is now being used in non combat areas. We are far more aware of amputees, and the technology for artificial limbs again has improved dramatically, which in turn benefits everyone. The ability to adapt vehicles and weapons quickly for use in battle will possibly save the lives of our service men and women in the future.
AH, I have no idea why you’ve introduced 'pomposity' here but you do it on thread after thread. A fixation perhaps? Still, that aside, I think you’ll find that the Taliban doesn’t want what you call a workable solution.
Naomi, my reference to pomposity is validated by sweeping statements like that.

What on earth makes you think you know what the Taliban want or don't want?
Dunno. It's a mystery ...
No, it's not.
// I have no idea why you’ve introduced 'pomposity' here but you do it on thread after thread.// because he sees it in thread after thead innit?

rather an obvious point to me - anyway the plural of madrasa is madaris innit?

Leese Doucet on R4 this morning seemed utterly at sea with the idea that an American with drawal was not followed by Taliban filling the vacuum
Not much. Again we interfere or go into a country and then leave it worse off.
As I have opined on other threads, maybe we should ponder the morality of enforcing our version of what is best for other people, especially when we do it by miliary invasion and occuptation.

Maybe, just maybe, the Afghan people want stability, familiarity, their own customs and way of life, and ruling by their own people.

That's what the Taliban will give them - who are we to say they shouldn't take it?
