I have a Roberts Revival radio which currently retails at £199. My radio won't turn on and will cost £56 to repair (out of warranty). I don't want to repair it but it also seems too nice to recycle. Do you know of any charity shops which take faulty radios?

This charity will take broken tvs but no mention of radios - it is a great charity so worth getting in touch and asking them if they want yours https://weeecharity.co.uk/weeecharity/what-we-take Another solution might be to get help with a free repair at a Repair Cafe near you then you can either keep the radio or donate it to a charity that takes electrical...

Is there not a local electrical shop that could repair it at more reasonable price?

Another solution might be to get help with a free repair at a Repair Cafe near you then you can either keep the radio or donate it to a charity that takes electrical items such as British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research, Age UK, Salvation Army. I can't think of any charity shop that would accept a broken radio.
Forgot the link for Repair Cafe https://www.repaircafe.org/en/
BTW - faulty on-off switch / volume control seems to be a recurring problem with some Roberts radios. Not good for a supposed quality brand.
In the past 20 years or so I've had 3 Roberts radios and all have been faulty. There was a time when it was a highly respected British firm selling radios made in Britain.
Roberts is now owned by the Irish company GlenDimplex, which also owns Morphy Richards, Creda, Belling, Goblin, Stoves, Valor, New World and many others.
It bought Roberts in 1994, long before DAB radio.
I would really prefer it if brand names could not retained when the brand is bought out.
