anti-g.british?
A totally unnecessary and stupid thing to do.
GB for Great Britain is the largest island of the British Isles and contains the countries of England, Wales and Scotland. It does not include Northern Ireland which is on the island called Ireland.
The UK for United Kingdom does include Northern Ireland so is the correct designate for identifying vehicles from our official country (which is a collection of 4 countries).

What sticker do Ulster drivers use when driving abroad?
"Each country has its own distinguishing mark for the purposes of international traffic.

Under international conventions, the distinguishing mark for the United Kingdom is 'GB', standing for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Although vehicles registered in Northern Ireland or Great Britain are not required to display a GB sticker or symbol when driving in the Republic of Ireland, a GB sticker should be displayed on UK-registered vehicles when they're driven in the rest of the EU or EEA."

As Ulster is not part of Great Britain, why is a UK sticker not appropriate?

If it's UK instead of GB it won't need to be changed when the wee 'un gets her way. We'll still be the UK of England, Wales & NI.
This is a ridiculous thing to get surged up about.
UK is more accurate and more inclusive Coming from NI I therefore welcome it, but I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.
There was some annoyance in NI over the name “Team GB” for the Olympics some years ago
Can we now change our Olympic team to UK as well?
I sometimes wonder what far-right tories want... they got their brexit result, they've got their impregnable majority, they got their preferred candidate in the leadership contest despite all the evidence that he was dishonest and ineffective (and now complain as though this is new information)... they don't like any form of 'green' politics despite the fact that Margaret Thatcher endorsed it and the fact that mitigating climate change concerns all of us and should not be a party-political issue... it really is nothing but whinge whinge whinge on every minor pathetic point and this thread proves it!
davebro - can't let anything pass without getting your nasty wee digs in can you?
Just stating a fact maggiebee. Sorry if it upsets you that the UK will live on after Indyref2.
I'm hardly a fan of Shapps, but yes, I don't see why stickers shouldn't identify the country correctly. You don't see Dutch cars with "Holland" stickers on them.

I daresay he has in mind the possibility that the Northern Irish might decide to have IRL stickers instead.
