Not exactly the most strenuous, and a straightforward word search. But a delightful theme, well implemented.
Yes, a gentle solve and we spotted the theme words immediately. A two glasses of wine job. Good fun.
I think the last time we had this theme, I posted that I could never get tired of it. That does, however, seem only a few months ago, so at this rate I may develop a finite capacity for it.

But I'm not there yet - this was a really neat implementation and a joy to complete - thanks, Hedge-sparrow!
A gentle balm to soothe the brain after last week’s marathon. Hedge-Sparrow never disappoints and this was a joy from start to finish. Bravo!
Lovely stuff, from one of my favourite setters - just the thing as an aperitif to a long weekend of (armchair) sport.

Thanks Hedge-sparrow
Can't complain. An easier puzzle, involving an interest of mine!
Oh, I thought last week's was the aperitif to prepare us for a puzzle in which all acrosses are encoded and all downs are jumbled!

Fortunately not. Grid qickly filled, but I enjoyed some excellent clues. I admire setters that can set easy clues that are still interesting (because of cryptic construction and/or surface).

The first item leapt out at me, the rest took some methodical searching.

I had to break off from completing it because of the Spain v Switzerland match otherwise it would have been one of my quickest solves!

Entertaining enough and a good 'brain rest' after last week's offering.

Thanks H-S.

Later than usual starting this due to being very busy – almost a novelty for me these days of retirement. Hedge-sparrow is a favourite setter of mine too, who never fails to entertain. I am very pleased he set us an easy one given how much sport needs watching.

Proof, if needed, that easy puzzles can be really enjoyable.

Thanks very much, Hedge-sparrow.
