Selling A Car On Ebay

My lovely little Merc failed its MOT yesterday. Apparently, the back brakes do not work and it needs a new master cylinder and even then the garage is not sure that is the problem. So I have decided that rather than pay a king's ransom to have it fixed I shall get shot. I shall have to drive Mr BM's car in the meantime. Mr BM is not desperately happy about me and his beloved A8, but that's tough.

It is actually a really nice car (save for the fact that it is a death trap) so I thought I might advertise it on Ebay as Spares or Repair (since it has no MOT and cannot be driven because it is DANGEROUS).

Any pointers for flogging a motor on Ebay, please? Clearly I shall disclose all the things on its MOT and make it clear it will need to be towed or trailored away.

I sold my knackered rover 200 on eBay, be honest what is wrong and advise people that time wasting will not be tolerated
There's some general advice here:

However people who're looking for cars are possibly more likely to look on Autotrader than they are on eBay. For cars valued at less than £1000, a one-week listing on Autotrader is free, with up to 5 photos included. A 3-week listing, with up to 20 photos, costs just £9.95:

Don't worry, Barmaid you'll flog it as spares or repairs. Stick to ( or very near ) to your price and dosh in hand before you let them take it.
You may get a comedian or two that will say that the engine is knackered or something like that after they start and run the engine.
Just an after thought, Bm. Mercedes car's usually have a brake balance valve that controls the braking between the front and the rear wheels. It's a possibility that this valve is knackered and needs replacing, just a thought.

Thanks all.

Tony, my garage is local one but specialises in Mercs, BMWs etc. He's a good guy and I know him well. He's fairly certain it is the master cylinder so I'll take him at his word. Tbh, it was a cheap car that we bought when we just needed something to tide us over but I stuck with it and it doesnt owe me anything.

I've now got my eyes on a neat little SLK, but that's a daft idea on these roads. But hey, I can drive Mr BM's car when it's horrid....... (every cloud.....)
I've now got my eyes on a neat little SLK,

Check that the roof works fine ( several times ) and no signs of water leaks ( roof )

Lol, I've had two of those, Tony, so I know where the issues are!

I've just written my Ebay ad. I think it might get banned. I may have to re-write in the morning.

The last Ebay ad I wrote got shared a bit. It was quite funny.

On an SLK, it's not generally the roof where the probs are, it is where the windows close and meet the roof. Because there is no upper cill, if there is a slight misalignment rain p****s in and soaks the seats.
As a guide to what you might hope to get for your car, Barmaid, here are the current lowest priced ads for Mercs on Autotrader (some of which are marked as 'spares or repair'):
