It's an old phone, don't know which model but overnight, various icons have appeared on the screen, eg, Word, Excel, Voice Search, One Drive, amongst others. They don't appear in the list of apps. Does anyone know how to delete them and why they have suddenly appeared? Any help appreciated. Not my phone, btw.

I thought Word, Excel, and One Drive are in every Samsung phone, and can't be removed.
Can't help with the why and how unfortunately.

Thanks pasta. They don't appear in the list of apps, so unable to remove them. I'm baffled as to why the icons are on the main screen but not in the apps list. Could it be anything to do with an automatic update?
On my Samsung Galaxy phone, if I press and hold an icon on the screen, I'm offered options which include 'uninstall' and 'delete'. The former removes the app altogether, whereas the latter only removes the icon from the screen.

So what happens when you long press on an icon on the phone that you're referring to?

Thanks Chris. When I hold the icon as you suggest, there is an option to install the app. I thought it would do as you said, but it doesn't.

Sorry, not being rude, but GTG. I'll be back soon. Not too long I hope!

I've tried holding down the icon, but still the same result. I think a new phone is required!
You could try installing the apps then hopefully you can uninstall them following Buenchico's instructions.
My guess is that your phone has updated overnight
