Before Britain joined the EU certain products, such as tobacco used to have a notice/warning on them stating that their re-sale was restricted outside of the EU, (or EEC as was) travellers were allowed a small quantity, 'duty-free'.

Can anyone remember the exact wording of that notice? perhaps someone has an old tobacco tin or something else bearing that inscription. Thanks.

It was a hang over from the Navigation Acts ( world over ) of the 1660s, (yes really) where the idea was british ships carried british produce ( sub French Austrian, Russian, Lithuanian)

and also taxes shouldnt be paid on food consumed on board ( god knows where that came from)

and so I suggest the wording was not in the acts ( and too early for stat instruments)

Thanks, yes maybe, but I need to know the actual wording of the warning on the packaging. Anyone know or remember?
erm yeah got that
but I dont think there was an agreed wording for the article - like not for resale in the UK

to put it in AB speak - different articles - different words
