Wants to pop in for a cup of tea.....??!
It's distracting you while it's mate sneaks in the kitchen door and nicks your chips.
It's been misled by its own reflection.
Bookbinders answer seems likely.

Thanks everyone! I think Bookbinder's theory is probably right But it's strange that it has only just started happening and it is definitely the same bird
There's a place near us with peacocks. Occasionally one goes for a wander into the local village high street. If it finds a highly polished car and can see it's reflection, it pecks the car repeatedly.

If it is pecking at its reflection...any ideas on how to stop it? It's driving us nuts, especially first thing in the morning The only upside is that we get exercise going up and down the stairs to frighten it away
Sounds like it's having a funny tern ;-)
