Wiki has the answer
The Group of Seven (G7) is an inter-governmental political forum consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.[1] The heads of government of the member states, as well as the representatives of the European Union, meet at the annual G7 Summit.
"Since first invited by the United Kingdom in 1977, the European Union has been represented by the president of the European Commission and the leader of the country that holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union;[10] the Council President now also regularly attends."

Thank you.
I'm glad they are represented there, and I'm no fan of the EU.
Are the two countries not representing themselves rather than the EU?
They should not be there. IMHO.
Aren't they all just giant lizards discussing how to continue subduing the masses? (Oh! - isn't The Lizard part of Cornwall?)

Remind us again who was our lickspittle anti British "Prime Minister". Do keep noticing how much of our National strife goes back to the same malignant source.
Crisis? What crisis.
Callaghan, although I still rank him higher than Heath, at whose doorstep all our troubles can be laid.
IT may be as a sop to the EU. Keeping them in the loop may be good for our future relations with them.
Togo, I am sure you are able to use Google to find out who was the PM in 1977
