We have to have 35yrs NI contributions to get the full state pension which is calculated at £179. Yet my friend took early retirement and has 42 yrs contributions but has a calculation of £140 !

this is a third party inquiry and these are marked by inaccurate or later corrected info - my guess - he contracted out of serps as a result of this employment

I took a year out at age 24 to work selflesslly for charity and totally screwed my pension at 65 - that would be 41 y later - I knew what I had done at age 27

When did your friend retire? If it was before the current legislation was enacted their pension will have been calculated under the old regs & continue at that rate (with minor annual increases). The maximum would currently be about £150 pw.
Not sure if am one of the peeps but maybe your freind had been in a contracted out company scheme so paying lower NI

I got my info from logging in to check my NI contributions, and it says my projected pension will be 179 in 2027 as have paid my 35 yrs . So if I finished work now I will get my full pension in 2027
Did he reach state retirement age in 2018?
