My employer put in my appraisal last year (October) that I could have a half hour paid lunch break as there were currently 3 people available to oversee the job that I did whilst having lunch. They have now told me that I can have half an hour lunch break but it won't be a paid lunch break. Nothing has changed and there are still 3 people overseeing this job. Can they do this?

I am not sure but think probably unpaid. Not sure why they said I could get a paid break and now they are saying unpaid as nothing has changed.
You should have a contract of employment. If it says "paid lunch breaks" then it will need to be amended and you would have to agree to that. If it doesn't say anything about breaks then I guess your employer can stop paying you for them.
Seems unusuall to have a paidlunch break
