What's happening? Looks to me like there are many cases but relatively few hospitalisations, presumably because a) we are doing a lot more testing and b) vaccination means that although present in the body when tested it's not getting a foot hold. Should we push back the 21st June relaxation or power ahead and rely on the fact that all but the THB will be vaccinated pretty soon?

PS the tin foil isn't actually made from tin and neither were the hats :)
yeah but no but
In the Dig - which is NOT about Covid
the kids wanders around with a tin foil
and 1936 is far too early

There was a guy on tel who had made a faraday cage with chicken wire and a wood frame which was increds efficient.

but hey I think it is kinda cute and typical AB
that TTT ( tor tora tora that is!) uses a TLA ( three letter acronym that is! ) that no one understands because - - - it s wrong and he has just made it up anyway !!! haw haw haw
Meanwhile, back on Planet Earth..... :-)
that's cleared things up . . .pp quotes ttt acronym re tla
foo back dere den

Prof Kao was on tel this am and and he stressed ( unofficially - some of them are good about saying this is not an official view)

cases - hospital adm - deffs (writing TTT speak) should be separated ( see my post above) as the death category are now all vaccinated - you should see unlinking

few cases in those who are destined by age to DDDDDIIIIIIEEEEE!
and many more in the younger age group ( see my other posts)
BUT it still means the virus has hosts to mutate still
and there is obviously evolutionary pressure to mutate to escape the vaccine

and so - - we may be in a - the virus will always be wivvus phase

(we are back on Planet Erf NJ but you dont capeeshi any of this innit)
//NJ but you dont capeeshi any of this innit//

Yes I do “capeeshi” all of that Peter. In particular I capeeshi this:

//BUT it still means the virus has hosts to mutate still
and there is obviously evolutionary pressure to mutate to escape the vaccine//

If I’m reading you correctly, what you are advocating is a strategy of “zero Covid”. This is essentially what many of the “scientists” are suggesting, if only they’d admit it. They suggest that restrictions must remain in place to a greater or lesser degree until Covid (in all its variations) is wiped from the face of the Earth. Since that is never going to happen it means indefinite restrictions. So consider this:

- In the last year some 300,000 fewer cancer referrals were made than the year before. At present people are dying of cancer at a rate fifty times those who are dying from Covid. That rate is very likely to increase as the number of untreated cancer patients become fatalities. Yes, I agree that cancer is not infectious but that is scant consolation to those dying from it. Similar figures are evident for other serious diseases which have suffered widespread neglect by the sawbones during the past year. In this respect the answer to the question “who do we allow to die” which Mr Cummings amusingly displayed from the whiteboard whilst being quizzed in the Commons last week is easily answerable – those suffering from anything other than Covid.

- Some 600,000 people in the hospitality sector lost their jobs during the various lockdowns.

- More than 3m people are still on furlough – most of them because of the restrictions that are still in place. This is costing the taxpayer £3.5bn a month.

- The government is borrowing £1bn a day to fund that scheme and many more besides – again necessary because of restrictions.

There is not a single reason why any restrictions should remain in place beyond 21st June. In fact they should all have been lifted by now. This country has suffered untold damage because of the virus, much of it unavoidable but quite a bit of it could have been avoided. There is no reason to inflict this damage for a day longer than necessary.
My friend has terminal cancer. This has only just been discovered. He could not get to see a doctor or a dentist for over a year. If examined it would most likely have been picked up. He has months left on this sorry earth.
Where I live doctors have been in hiding, coming out only to collect their ridiculous wages.
