A non white actress playing Anne Boleyn.

Would Daniel Craig be acceptable playing Nelson Mandella, say ?

//The actress who is playing Anne Boleyn is new to me and to be honest, she does look a bit miserable,...//

So would you be if you knew you were going to be decapitated in the last episode! :-)

From what i have gathered through reading several previews, is that though it is based on the story of Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII, what actually happened isn't strictly adhered to. It is a 're-imagining' of events. Not watched it yet but, like mamy, will certainly give it a bash sometime soon. And, if i don't find it to my taste, it won't be because i can't handle a black Anne Boleyn.
Why are these people so keen to re-write history? What next Prince Philip a child molester?Where does it end?
Wow, that's a warped leap and a half grumpy.
grumpy, the Titanic that didn't sink?
Grumpy, re-imagining and re-writing are not the same things.
Thanks for the spoiler, Barsel. Not seen The Titanic yet :-((
Sorry Ken, you wouldn't have liked it anyway.:-)
Foo, there are some dumb people on answerbank.
Maybe a bit warped but once this sort of thing starts to snowball.
A bit warped?

You bet.
.
Well, it is what it is. I have no interest in these kind of shows (costume dramas, I mean), so won't be watching it regardless. I just can't understand why people get so het up about an entertainment programme, especially one that has already been described as an "re-imagining" (according to Ken earlier in this thread).
odd claim on the channel 5 trailer, just repeated on the One Show.

"You may know the history. but you don't know her story".

well channel 5, since you're at pains to point out this is a re-imagining rather than a historical text, we still don't know her story.
Did anyone watch it & what did you think?

Gets a very poor review in The Daily Mail.
