This question was inspired by Nailit's "If England had an anus, then that's where I live...Stoke on Trent!"

I love my area, Hampshire is a wonderful county (although parts of the "M27 corridor" are a bit grim, but counteracted effectively by the coastline of Southampton Water). Sufficient numbers of the population are friendly and welcoming, although there are pockets of xenophobes (which amazed me when I came to the area, I assumed that with two major ports cosmopolitanism would be well accepted).

I live in Dorset and have done for many years. I cannot complain about any of it particularly if you like a rural idyllic rather outdated lifestyle. I suppose one could complain about being cocooned from the problems experienced in other parts of the UK.
I live in a town which I quite like as it's handy for the shops and rail stations (I don't drive any more), but the area has sadly gone down over the years and people aren't as friendly as they used to be, but I like my street as I can see trees and bushes from my front window and there are lots of birds about. I'd love to live near the coast though.
I'd move like a shot if it was possible, either back to Wells or to Norfolk.
Love where I am living but it is not where I want to see my days out that’s Scotland.
You could not pay me to live back in Norfolk it’s bad enough having to visit there!
We live in a very rural part of Cambridgeshire. It's a tiny hamlet and VERY quiet.

The neighbours are great. Close enough to be of assistance but far enough away that you don't hear them. There's a really nice community spirit too and a random group often end up sitting round a fire in a field getting a bit plastered.
Lived here 35 years so it's probably OK! Lots of nice countryside accessible, bit lacking on the cultural side.

Thank you all for your interesting responses.

P.S. For the Norfolk responders, I lived there from 1949 to 1972. It has its good points.
I live in Yorkshire. ‘Nuff said.
Born in Surrey, lived in Yorkshire, Dorset, Somerset & many years in Gloucestershire as a child. Moved to Hampshire & London for university. Now live in South Lincolnshire, absolutely love it & wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
