A Friend had problems emailing me yesterday with their email being rejected as spam.

I thought the problem was their end until I replied to another email to a different person today and my reply was undeliverable and rejected as spam.

Others are coming through and being sent OK, so it’s intermittent.

Any suggestions?

What makes you think it is a BT problem Maydup? It could be your email provider or even another email provider that is having issues with your account. Who is your email provider, do you know the provider of the emails that are being either rejected of flagged as spam?
Start by changing your IP address, as it might have previously been used by a spammer and therefore be blacklisted by some spam filtering services. It couldn't be simpler to do as, in most cases, it involves nothing more than removing the power to your router, waiting for a minute or two and then powering it back up again.

I suggest finding out what your current IP address is first, which involves nothing more than clicking here:
https://whatismyipaddress.com
Then use that link again, after power cycling your router, to check that it's been changed.

Spam filters also watch out for certain words that are frequently used by spammers and then assume that an email with such words in their titles must be spam. So, for example, even though you're delighted that your nephew has just gained a first class honours degree at Oxford, it's unwise to include the word 'Congratulations' in the title of your email, as that might result in it being seen as spam by filtering systems.

The list here has been compiled to help bulk marketers get around such problems but it's equally useful to individual senders of emails:

If you are using BT as your mail provider you can add the emails to your safe senders list.
1. From the Settings tab, (in your email) select the Safe senders" folder and click on the Add button
2. Add the email address you want to mark as safe and click Save
3. After a confirmation message the email address will be added to your list of safe senders
4. To remove a safe sender you just need to click on the Delete button.
Must admit that "she who must be obeyed" uses BT and likes it. I find it horrible. Clunky, long winded, and having other issues not unlike yours. "She" however likes the folder system and the diary notification layout.

Thanks all. BT internet is my provider. The emails are not going to people spam folder or to mine, they are being undelivered from and to very different email addresses. I will try the IP address solution and see how I get on.
