Recent blood works showed a high Alkaline phosphatase of 180 and my GP called to say they would like to repeat my blood test in 2 weeks and if still high a liver scan and biopsy. Should I be worried? I don't drink excessively but I'm worried this is a cancer marker. I've been feeling very fatigued the last couple of months and my legs and hips are quite painful. I'm 55 y/o.

Yes, I would be worried, however one can only wait for the liver scan.
The high level of that enzyme can be caused by many things, all treatable and not life threatening.
Actually, Sqad, can I just ask (sorry to butt-in, RQ007) but what could a low albumin of 30 signify if the rest of your liver function is grossly normal? I had a low calcium too (and a high D-Dimer which was deemed to be infection-related) and my Immunologist friend told me to take calcium with Vitamin D and eat more protein. Would appreciate your thoughts...

Sorry again to the OP.

Thank you Sqad, I'm relieved at reading this! My GP was quite concerned and been worrying since.
Hi! LadyCG.....in a word...no idea.
The low albumin is caused by a low calcium and they tend to go hand in hand.
Many causes, for this but as you have been in hospital recently I would tend to agree with your friend that it is a post inflammatory state of affairs, possibly auto immune and I agree with his suggestion.
