If you have had BOTH vaccinations and can afford the documentation and going to a green colour country and would collapse into a jabbering mass if you missed out.........then go.
If you don't comply with the above then stay in the UK.

Then you might as well say indefinitely, sqad. There will always be variants developing and their characteristics (rate of spread, seriousness of symptoms, etc.) will err...vary.

I believe that you - along with many others including, frighteningly, some in government and unsurprisingly some scientists - are approaching the advocacy of a "zero Covid" approach, which is totally unsustainable. We cannot maintain harsh restrictions with the threat of continual lockdowns "just in case". Threatened lockdowns are now being seen as the first resort when they should be the very last.

Of course there will be more variants some more threatening than others, but one must deal the cards dealt in this round and at the moment, in my opinion we are playing them badly.

In fact, DT (leaving aside the disputed ownership of Rockall) it is only slightly more senseless to include it on the "Green" list as it is to include the South Sandwich Islands (1,000 miles ESE of The Falklands, no permanent inhabitants and no accommodation).

Yes there are some lovely parts of the UK to visit.

The trouble is, if you're a couple with two young children and you holiday in the UK you run the very real risk of having to spend your holiday dodging the weather. For older people on their own it's not too difficult. There are plenty of indoor attractions, not to mention pubs, cafes and restaurants where you can while away the time. With a couple of young kids it's not so much fun. That's why many people with children choose a holiday where the weather is a little more reliable.
