The reviews on The Independent's website are usually worth a read, particularly if you use them as a starting point for checking out further reviews of the same products on Amazon and elsewhere:

Six years ago I bought a Stihl FS50c and paid £120 for it.. it gets used regularly to do the paths around our two allotments. It has always started on the second pull and has never missed a beat.
About a month ago someone offered me £120 for it.
Same old story you get what you pay for !
Toying with the idea of putting the money towards a cordless strimmer, without doubt it will be a Stihl again ..
This will be the one, but it's more than £80.00 though.

alava; I think the op might have been looking for a battery strimmer.
alava; do you pull a battery strimmer? I'm a bit confused.
alava, having re-read your posts, I am beginning to understand.

Thanks for your replies. I'm going for one that's advertised at Screwfix. Mine too is for the allotment. I'll probably only use it a couple of times a year as current thinking is to leave grass pretty long to give wildlife a habitat.
Don't forget that a petrol strimmer will need petrol/oil mix. That's a fiddly dirty job but results in a powerful strimmer. You have to mix petrol and oil in the right proportions, read the instruction book twice a year (because you have forgotten it from last time), extract and clean the spark plug, clean the air filter, and so it goes on.
For 2 strims a year, I'd advise a rechargeable battery model.

That's what I'm getting.
I like the "EGO" The batteries are interchangeable with other tools of the same make.
I have a Black & Decker with aku battery, it has 2 settings, normal & 'turbo' for the deeper stuff, I use it regularly & have had no problems
