I had my second Covid-19 vaccine today. I had to travel 55 miles for it but feel happy to be more protected now. I wonder how many people have not bothered to have a second vaccine ?.

Apparently there are quite a lot who don't bother to turn up for the second jab - difficult to understand their logic. Just a dose of good old complacency I presume.

I’ve had both now, why did you have to travel so far??
Thats unlucky William, we booked our second vaccination when we booked our first, same time, same place in the local vaccination centre.

Shame you had to travel, but pleased you're more protected though. Hopefully most people are simply revisiting their local centres or surgeries and having the sedond one as we are.
varies by area - low uptake in both in northern cities
and by age

Manchester it is lower than 10% OAPs- which for a static database used dynamically is nearing - they arent coming because they are dead
I’ve had both locally, mile away, everyone I know has had both of them. How awful you had to travel so far.
I’m sure you could have got a place nearer to you, William. Maybe you might have had to wait a while, though. I know some people who have decided to wait for a more convenient place to be offered, rather than go miles out. Me included. I’ve got my second jab booked only 4 miles away.
I had my second jab three weeks ago and it was within a mile from my home.

If you’ve had the first jab why on earth would you not want the second one??
OH was offered his in a different county. He just didn't book. We'be both been offered one closer to home now. 1st jab tomorrow and 2nd in July,
Pleased you have had your second vaccine. My disabled husband had both his at our local surgery, I couldn't have mine same time as in a different age group. This was early December. In February I got phone call from surgery -did I want mine, said yes please, told nurse will be with you in 15 mins. and she was. Never knew why. 11 weeks later a nurse turned up unannounced to give me second. I never did find out why, but was most welcome
the roll-out does seem to have been a bit more shambolic than people think. Having to travel 55 miles for a job is crazy unless you live in the Shetlands or something.

My OH was invited for both jabs but I got mine just by going along and saying "Can I have one as well, please?" My first proper invitation didn't arrive till a week later, and I never got an invitation for the second one.
55 miles is bad enough for a job, but I meant jab.
probably 55 round trip
Mine was a 28-mile round trip, and I was happy to do it
Mine was a 60 mile round trip to a big centre but I do live in the country and that was before all the pharmacies in places nearer were offering it. I was taking someone else and was offered it at the same time so I didn't mind at all. I think they've done brilliantly in getting people vaccinated. Well done this government. No complaints from me.
Sorry, I didn't make it clear. ^That was for my first jab - but having been booked for my second at the same time, I did the journey again - and willingly.
55 miles seems a long way, but totally worth it .
The GP run stream seems to have been less well organised than the NHS stream...but I guess if your GP surgery isn't wonderfully organised then neither will their vaccine program.
not everyone is given two dates at the same time; we weren't. (I would have thought doing so makes more sense and is easier to administer, but what do I know.)
JNO as I understand it the nhs online booking program gave two dates at the same time and the GP invitation system did not....in fact when i booked mine via the national system, I HAD to book both appointments at the same time.
Apparently there are quite a lot who don't bother to turn up for the second jab - difficult to understand their logic. Just a dose of good old complacency I presume.

Snowball, i had to travel so far because i had to cancel my first date and this was the only alternative place they had.
