Not having been into a bank for many years is it possible to go in and request a cash withdrawal of £2000 or would I have to arrange it beforehand? Co-op Bank.

I'd arrange first to save possible hassle - last time I withdrew cash in branch it was £900 but it was a long time ago.
Had a search lankeela, and can't find much. Would give them a call, to be on the safe side.
Do has Mamya suggests, lankeela. A few years back I bought a car and had to tell them in advance ( HSBC ) because the sum that I wanted to withdraw was over a certain ammount.

Will ring them Monday - trouble is there are so few co-op bank branches.

You're certainly right there, Lankeela. There's only one left in Norfolk. (69 London Street, Norwich). The bank's website seems determined not to provide a branch telephone number but 01603 766809 should get you through to them. (Otherwise try 0345 721 2212. The call rate will be the same).

If you're not in a hurry though (and getting into Norwich is awkward for you), it might be simpler to take out £500 per day from your nearest cash machine. Alternatively, ask your local Post Office what the maximum amount you can withdraw there is:

Be ready to explain why you want the cash too Lankeela, they prefer to transfer it electronically.
None of their business why you want the money!
It may indeed be none of their business but many do ask and have done for some time.

This is an old report.

Chris it would indeed be Norwich - intrigued though to see I could get £500 out from an ATM as I though the limit was £250 or is that by special arrangement?
The normal daily limit is £300 but you can ask your bank for a £500 limit.

Will try that as I could do that over four days obviously.
