Good morning
I changed the mouse pointer on my HP laptop so that I could see it better. Since then, I have strange purple thing, like a dumb-bell on its end, which accompanies my mouse pointer everywhere it goes. Pleas can some kind soul tell me how I can get rid of it - and make an old man very happy? Many thanks in advance, Poison Dwarf

It sounds like that is the symbol you selected when you changed the pointer. Try changing it again?

It sounds as if you have just selected something like 'working in background' with the egg timer as your normal select cursor. Just do whatever you did before and choose a different cursor.
