If Jason Manford as a quiz show host is anything like Jason Manford as a radio host, I shan't be tuning in.
He spends three times as long talking as he does playing records, on 70's network, chatting with some nameless bloke like two old men in a bar boring everyone within earshot.
Of course, in a bar, you can simply move out of earshot (I would) or change the radio station (I have) or avoid him in a quiz show (I will.)

I wonder if that might be due to the cost of the broadcasting rights involved in playing more records?
The reason that BBC local radio stations play only a handful of records every hour, including during their evening broadcasts (even though there's no 'current local affairs' content to fill up time then, as there usually is during the day), is simply that Aunty Beeb can't afford to pay the massive fees associated with playing more records. So the presenters are forced to spend a great deal of their time waffling and/or taking calls from listeners.
Perhaps Absolute Radio is similarly strapped for cash?
