Log awaited polling day here in Scotland. Will have to wait until Sunday for the result though. 16 year old grand-daughter has her first vote, hope she uses it well.

Like Bobbi I am hoping for an outright SNP win.

The sooner I dont have to look at her mush or her whining grating voice the better.

16 is too young, I agree with TTT it should be 21. And on the usual argument trotted out as above I dont think under 21 should be front line either. Or women.
Indeed. You can't be "sent out to die" unless you join HM Forces. We are constantly told that young people are not mature enough to be treated as adults in many respects. There is a separate judicial regime which provides much more lenient sentences because people under 18 "do not have the capacity to make rational decisions about their behaviour". They must also remain in either full time education or work within an apprenticeship or similar scheme until they are 18. But it seems they are worldly-wise enough to cast a vote on the future direction of the United Kingdom.
So you can get married, drive a car or fly a plane, but you can't be trusted to vote until 21?
ttt; "...the best way not to be sent out to die is choose another career." As crass statements go, that one takes some beating :-((
//So you can get married, drive a car or fly a plane, but you can't be trusted to vote until 21?//

Well you shouldn't be allowed to, all should be 21. IMHO.

It's not a crass statement Ken its stating the blindingly obvious.
common sense ken, what's confusing you? If you become a plumber you must expect to do plumbing, if you join the army you must expect to do some soldiering. Not sure why that is "crass".
Epitaph for all those fallen on active service; "You should have chosen another career."
now you are being silly, you linked voting age to the forces I responded. You are talking cobras and have been caught out so now you are trolling. Come on you are better than that.
You suggested raising the voting age to 21. I said an 18 year old could be sent to a theatre of war at 18, so why could he/she not vote at that age? You replied that the best way not to be sent out to die, was not to join the forces, which, imho, is a crass remark given the numbers of those who have done just that for their country. I do not believe i have been 'caught out' and i stand by my opinion that your remark was crass.
Subject to more checks than a credit loan!!!! lol
TORATORATORA, why should an eighteen-year old be deemed responsible enough to defend this country from an enemy attack, but not responsible enough to vote for or against, a party that put him or her in that position?
