Afternoon all
Rodders jumped into the river earlier today and came out absolutely stinking. We've given him a good scrub with our usual dog shampoo but he still smells.
Can anyone recommend a strong dog shampoo?

I can't offer any personal recommendations but the reviews here suggest that this stuff is particularly effective at dealing with all types of nasty smells on dog fur:

Thanks Chris. There's a Pet's at Home just down the road from me. I'll pop in and get some.
I've got some of that Rocky, it's good. Worked on my mutt when he rolled in fox poo (and human poo!!).
I feel it's more to do with how you wash them than the actual product, our Hungarian Sheep Dog is a star 'roller' & because we live in the country there's lots of assorted animal poos around. I put her in the shower cubicle & use lots of ordinary shampoo & body temperature water from the hand-held shower head while wearing rubber gloves.
Tomato ketchup works on fox poo - might be worth a go. Rub it in, leave for a while and then rinse off well and shampoo as normal.

Thanks all

I'd put him in the bath if I could, except he's just far too heavy and big to lift, and he'll be seriously non compliant.
Chase him around the garden with the hose pipe. :-)
I have tried many shampoos for my dog, from cheap to very expensive. At the moment I use regular baby shampoo. It does not cause allergies and does a good job of cleaning.
