I heard my neighbours and a visitor having a big fight, and I was worried about one of the neighbours who sounded very (!!!!) distressed.

Six police officers arrived and were great, but the house was dark, appeared to be empty, and no one answered.

Will the police visit again tomorrow (hoping to catch them in) to follow this up with them? I’d sleep a little better knowing that they will, so fingers crossed.

Local police = Thames Valley.

Give them a call on 101 tomorrow, to say that you're still worried and would be grateful if someone could carry out a check. . . . or, of course, simply knock on your neighbour's door and say something like "I Don't want to get involved in your personal life but I was just wondering if you were OK after last night?". The worst the can happen is that you'll get told to...

Completely agree with Buenchicho. apart from the fact that they are same local police as me, at least you will know you’ve at least tried to offer support.
They probably won't follow up.

We've had serious bust ups in the pub. They told is to keep the CCTV. Never came back for it even though it was a 999 call and a victim taken to A&E.

Thanks everyone!

I don’t feel comfortable knocking on the door. I only know them in passing, and last night was scary to hear. That being said, I am still worried, so will have s think on that point a bit more.
