Is there a way of finding out when you passed your driving test, it was a long time ago so have completely forgotten.

Does your driving license tell you when your full license was first issued? Mine does, I still have the old style paper licence
On the back of a photocard licence it shows the test date as when you had those B/C/D type categories added, it does on mine anyway, all the same date and I know that's the date I passed my test.
There is a cut-off date; I passed my test in 1965 but the earliest date on my licence is 1975.
I am same as barry and still have the old paper type. Saves having to renew it every so many years. Also only just lost my old red book type of licence. Had a blue book in the day too for my HGV.
I had the blue book licence for HGV, too. Had to surrender it when the rules changed re eyesight even though I'd driven every sort of vehicle including hazardous waste and extra wide loads for many years without incident.
barry I had to give my HGV up too because of bad health. Drove many types of vehicle but favourite must be the airport fire trucks where the steering wheel is in the middle.
It's a wrench, isn't it, surrendering a driving licence. I can well understand why some elderly drivers are reluctant to hand in their car licence.
you have to get a photocard licence when you reach 70 - then renew every 3 years instead of 10.
Got a couple more years to go yet davebro. Will be upset to get rid of it as it has been with me for many years. Family say I need to get a photo type and get into the modern world but why change something that's not broke. Barry yes it was hard to let it go but driving these days is not the fun it used to be.
//you have to get a photocard licence when you reach 70 - then renew every 3 years instead of 10.//

In fact, when you renew your licence at 10 yearly intervals all you are renewing is your photocard. Your entitlement to drive remains valid until you are 70 (unless the DVLA revokes it earlier, which they must do in writing). Then it expires and does so every three years thereafter.

There is considerable confusion about this even among police officers. They sometimes attempt to charge a driver with driving without a licence when they have an expired photocard. This is not correct as they still have a valid licence to drive. All they can be charged with is failing to update their photocard. This is a non-endorseable offence which carries a fine only.
it's on your licence.
