in two weeks, which is sad in itself but good for them, as they are both well into their 70's.

I have known them for over 30 years and have always had great service.
Do you suppose a bottle of Champagne and some nice chocs would go down well as a parting gift. Or something else. i have only a couple of weeks to decide.

i won't have a clue who to go to after when i need a haircut or perm...
as other local hairdressers seem not to be that type,
Look at M and S gifts of flowers plus either chocs, biscuits etc. Some lovely ideas and they deliver
Your choice of bubbly & chocs sounds good to me & why not ask their advice? If they *had* to choose, who would they visit to sort their coiffure?
You need to look at both flowers and plants
Yes, thats a lovely gesture

they do each others hair, i will probably pop in to see them maybe today briefly before i go to have my vaccination. But i would like it to be a nice surprise. They are planning to have drinks on their last day 1st May, but its meant as a gift for them alone.
"they do each others hair..." - I get that, but if they *had* to choose...

no idea LinK, they have been in situ for more than 50 years, and i don't think they know any of the other hairdressers in the location, as they don't live round this way at all.
Ok, sorry, though I'd still ask their opinion just in case - I doubt you'd be the only one asking. I know that the barber I use is in contact with several others in the locality.
Hi emmie, nice idea, but, how many tips have you given in 30 years.
Chocs and flowers seems a good idea.
A couple of decorative/wine glasses engraved with an appropriate slogan, such as "To ?????. Thank you for 30 years of perfect hair. Emmie"

Google glass engraving for more info/suppliers

Substitute anything you like for glasses (e.g. Silver-plated cup, Shield, etc.), your choice.

i might do that, he has a large clientele many of whom are elderly and we are going to miss them dreadfully. I had my hair done wednesday just the way i like. Its going to be hard to find a new one that might do the same.

nice idea Canary. See what Amazon brings up.
Gosh, I’m pleased I didn’t write it!
Wrong thread, sorry Em x
Em when I moved to the B&H area, like you, I had no idea where to get my haircut and I'm very fussy! So I looked in the local roads and noted 5 hairdressers, one advertising 10% off, so they were a No No straight away. This leaves me with 4 and I noted who was busy and had full chairs and who hadn't. It was amazingly easy to notice that one was always busy and a lot of the clientele had very good bobs which is how I liked my own hair. My first appointment there I wasn't happy with my bob but noted that the owner was the one to go to and I have been going there ever since. Keep your eyes open and you'll find a good hairdresser. It's so important!
