So that I could say I achieved 'something' from the lockdown, I started a parchment tutors course. I passed the introductory level, and the first tutor level. Yesterday I sent away my submission for the level 2 tutor assessment.
If I pass, this means I can teach the whole gamut of parchment craft, not just the basics. It's a beautiful old craft dating back as far as the 14th century I think.
Fingers and toes crossed here.

well done, ferlew, most dedicated work and you must have the eyes, hands and dexterity of - I don't know what, an eagle?'
And patience too....!
Wow! Go, Ferlew! Well done so far.
Just got back and seen all the information
You must be a very patient person to be able to work on something so delicate. Thanks for explaining
I have to assume that Ferlew doesn't have any 'helpful' cats in her household, ready to dislodge her hand just as she adds the final bit of detail to a creation ;-)

I did have two cats, as well as two dogs, sadly in the last 2 years my elderly pets have popped their clogs one by one, and I am now down to just one 14 YO yorkie. As long as they could sit behind me in the chair, the cats were quite ok about not climbing on my table.
What astonishing and intricate work...you must also have good eyesight. Or do you work with magnifying glasses? I could never do that.
You would do well on Etsy...good luck!
If it wasn't for your hobby, Ferlew, I'd encourage you to get another cat ;-)

My little girl cat, Tablo, has actually got her bed on my desk, right alongside my keyboard and my mouse mat. I've spent much of the last week redesigning a website for a fellow AB member and, just as I've been carefully positioning an element on a page, she's invariably decided to 'help' ;-)

Pasta, I wear X2 specs for the fine work, just my normal ones as a rule.
A darn good craft lamp with daylight bulb is soooooo helpful.
^^^ ...and very steady hands!
OMG, ferlew that is amazing. You are truly talented, here's hoping the judges recognise your craftsmanship.

If I don't pass ParsleyDumpling, the very kind comments on here will more than make up for any disappointment. Thanks all xx
Just stunning, Ferlew. Dave had a look and was really impressed.
