Ever Given is still being held by the Suez Authorities. Its what would normally happen when a ship causes expense or damage to a port or other facility. The ship will not be allowed to leave until the claim is agreed and payment or legal agreement to pay has been received.

I think I read it was carrying billions ($?) cargo and the Egyptians wanted 1 billion to release it. Seems like a deal should be possible.
not held hostage, the owners have bills to pay and compensation for the chaos they caused.
Davebro, also carrying someones slippers possibly
maybe a few containers full of iphone 12s
Its not hostage. It is impounded until the 'salvage' is paid, which it will be once the Insurance company sorts it.
